Note from the composer

The piece is a warning to listen and watch for God’s commandments, for there are the key to eternal life.

The main theme is sung by the bass voices referring to God’s voice, strongly warning human being, and taken back in variations by the 3 left voices, angels strengthening the warning. The middle section describes life with a dawn pictorial comparison on how beautiful it would be if humans actually do what God wants. All voices are suddenly disappearing at the end of the canonical form, remembering how ephemeral and of a sudden a life might end.

Text

Take hold of my instructions, don’t let them go
For they are the key to life.
The way of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn,
Which shines ever brighter until the full light of the day.
When you walk you won’t be held back, when you run you won’t
stumble.
Take hold of my instruction, don’t let them go.
